Annotations are small pieces of data that give context to your sequences. Details
such as patient code, sequencing date, and CD4 count are extremely important pieces
of information that must be kept about the sequence. HIVbase has a tool to create
custom, user-defined annotations that are saved and assocated to your sequences.
You can even create searches of the database looking for these annotation values.
For example, if you have an annotation called sequence date, you can instantly produce
a result set with all of your sequences from whatever date (or range of dates) you
specify.
